Thamizh is one of the major classical languages belonging to the Dravidian language family. It is spoken predominantly by Tamilians in South India, Singapore, Malaysia and Sri Lanka. Thamizh is a diglossic language, which means its classic form (of high prestige and formal) is different from its colloquial (spoken) form.
